December 2015 Happenings
The past month has certainly exemplified the diversity that I refer to in this newsletter. My work has ranged from appearing for the eleventh season in Historic Philadelphia’s “Independence After Hours” in Independence Hall, to singing “All I Want For Christmas Is You” with Martha Stuckey of Red 40 for that band’s 12 Days of Christmas promo for their new CD.
In between those extremes were appearances at the Grand Illumination for American Heritage Federal Credit Union, emceeing their holiday lighting show for the fifth year, to greeting guests at the opening of the observation deck at One Liberty Place in Philadelphia, to once again greeting and teaching history at the Elfreth’s Alley Deck the Alley event, along with friends Ed Mauger, Joe Becton and Dr. George Boudreau. I also did meet and greets for a couple of corporate holiday parties, and especially enjoyed the KPMG party at the National Constitution Center.
Who knew accountants were such fun?
One of those KPMG folks was someone whom I had met before: Ashley Schmider, who represented Pennsylvania when I helped to host the Miss America contestants a few months ago. Ashley is a financial analyst for KPMG, a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Duquesne in economics, and we had a great chat at the party. Along with Ginny Loomis, Doug Thomas and Ed Kane, I worked with the Young Friends of Independence National Historical Park for their 5K Run fundraiser, and had a wonderful time as always. Another fine month for Ben Franklin.
