September 2015 Happenings

The end of August, and the beginning of September, has been a busy time for Dr. Franklin. There was Chadds Ford Days, on the Brandywine Battlefield, commemorating that battle in our war of Independence, and celebrating the lovely little historic town of Chadds Ford.

The summer season of Historic Philadelphia wound down to a close, ending a very enjoyable season, my eleventh season with that organization. There were corporate meets and greets, and wonderful new acquaintances made, but the highlight of this month was my time with the Miss America contestants.

(See my comments in the “Being Benjamin Franklin” section of this newsletter.)

Fifty-two beautiful and accomplished young women, and nice to boot.

I won’t forget Miss Washington State, a gorgeous African-American woman, taking off her sash and putting it on a young black girl who was standing by the carousel as the contestants got on for a photo-op, then bringing the young woman on with her.

Nor will I forget Miss Pennsylvania, a delightfully down-to-earth young woman from 17th and Mt. Vernon Sts., a Philly Girl through and through. So many selfies, and did I mention they were also quite attractive? A wonderful time was had by all.

Thank you, as always, for your subscribing to this blog, and keep your comments coming.
